Students in this course will explore the chemical processes related to living organisms. The course focuses on the properties of elements and how they bond and react within biological systems, with a particular focus on the role of water in living organisms. The synthesis, structure, and function of relevant biological molecules are explored. The course culminates in laboratory investigations that explore how biological molecules and chemical reactions interact in cells to harness and utilize energy during the processes of photosynthesis and cellular respiration. This course will involve concepts and skills relevant to Introductory Biology, Chemistry, and AP Biology.
